A close friend of mine texted me one evening and told me how tired she is in their house. I mean, she's tired⌐inside and out. Or, should I say, mentally and physically stressed out of the prevailing situation that she is encountering right now.. She's the oldest child of the three siblings. I met them all, and witnessed my friend's hard work... I by myself experienced the same thing as her, for the reason that I, too, was an eldest child.
Being the eldest child in the family poses tons of pros and cons. Some people say that being the oldest one means getting all the attention, love and care from the parents. Some would utter how lucky they are and blah blah blahhh. But hey dude, try to empathize with us. We are not a perfect human being. We also experience a lot of troubles and vexations. I think being the eldest does not guarantee power and unending freedom.
What did I learn in the latter episodes of my life as an eldest sister? Well, I can summarized SOME of it into the following sentences:
1. MOVE FORWARD.
2. BE STRONG.
3. BEING HIGHLY OPINIONATED IS NOT ALWAYS BAD. ;)
4. ENJOY LIFE TO THE FULLEST.
5. ALWAYS GIVE ATTENTION TO YOUR LOVED ONES.
6. LEARN HOW TO LISTEN TO YOUR PARENT'S PROBLEMS WHEN THEY ARE OPENING SOME ISSUES IN.
7. LEND A HAND.
8. YOU CANNOT LIVE BY YOURSELF.
9. TRUST GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
10. NEVER GIVE UP JUST BECAUSE YOU FAILED ON SOMETHING. MAKE USE OF THAT FAILURE TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL.
11. NEVER COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHER PEOPLE.
12. FORGIVE.
13. PRAY.
14. SET-UP YOUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES IN LIFE.
15. DON'T GET BIAS.
16. BE HONEST TO YOURSELF AND TO OTHER PEOPLE.
17. LEARN TO TRUST.
18. CONTINUE TO LEARN.
19. BE YOURSELF.
20. EMBRACE YOUR FLAWS AND IMPERFECTIONS.
21. BE CONTENTED FOR WHAT YOU HAVE
I'll never regret that God made me the eldest daughter in our family. Although sometimes, I feel bad about it (due to un-ending work load, high expectations, pressures ), I still believes that it shaped my inner self into something that made me a kind of person that I am today. I AM PROUD TO BE AN ELDEST CHILD IN OUR FAMILY. =)
